Here’s the latest audio recording from Malik Washington, an incarcerated journalist inside Santa Rita Jail. We have included some interesting attachments in the form of pdfs to this article. Many members of the community as well as local reporters from the media have been wondering why there is so little information available to the public in regard to conditions inside Santa Rita Jail as well as information regarding the multiple deaths that have taken place inside the jail. Furthermore, many have questioned the efficacy of the implementation of the Babu Consent Decree. A key problem that we have been encountering are the reports produced by the four expert monitors that seem to be shrouded in secrecy. We want to know how does Alameda County Administrator Susan Muranishi and the Alameda County Board of Supervisors justify spending $81 million dollars on an expansion of the Santa Rita Jail when Alameda County Sheriff’s Office cannot staff the building they have now with skilled mental health staff. California Senator Nancy Skinner is demanding answers to these questionsand so are we. Stay tuned….much more tocome.

November 10, 2020 - Bay View Assistant Editor Malik Washington discusses two threatening letters sent to to the Bay View newspaper October and November 2020 from Tetra Tech, the remediation company contracted to clean up the toxic Hunters Point Shipyard charged in 2019 with fabricating false soil sample results from several parcels in the highly contaminated area. The now notorious scandal at the Shipyard Superfund site involves developer Lennar, the Navy and many hundreds of elected officials in California and the City of San Francisco and administrators at the SF Department of Public Health. For decades, community activists, Shipyard workers, Dr. Ahimsa Porter Sumchai, Marie Harrison, Espanola Jackson, Elouise Westbrook, M. Reza Shirazi and countless other community based and academic investigators have used the Bay View to reveal the truth behind corporate, government and city fraud at the Shipyard in the historically Black Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood.
